Bethany, in Pursuit of HolinessBring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. Psalms 86:4 |
7/3/2009 Official. It is now official, I am 31. No longer just 30, I am 31. Out of my closest of friends from highschool I am the oldest, weird for me since I was always the youngest in anything, I was always the 'tag along' since my siblings are much older then me and I had no where else to go.
I remember going to a youth group event at the church in Sarnia... at least to the start of it, not sure what I did after say 10pm... but anyways, it was a wake-a-thon and both my sister and brother were involved, but for one reason or another I went too. You would think that since only my dad was the one helping out that I would have stayed home with my mom... Maybe she was at a womens retreat or something... anyways, I went to the wake-a-thon. And I really don't remember what happened past my usual bedtime, although, I really don't remember what happened before my bed time, I just know that I was there and had a sleeping bag. I obviously didn't partake in the 'wake' part of the wake-a-thon.
So, 31, it doesn't really mean much to me... For the adults in this family, we really don't celebrate birthdays like we do for the kids. Really, we don't celebrate them at all, except for a nice dinner on Sunday with the family. It is usually a beef steak pie, but for the summer (which my bday falls in) we don't do cooking like that. So, I get burgers and dogs. Although, I did get steak on Wednesday night, the night before my bday. So that was good. Birthdays just don't seem to hold the same umph as they do for the kids. No Chuck E. Cheese party, or all my friends over and we make bracellets/necklaces run races... none of that. Just tonight instead of me cooking for everyone we had Wendy's. Sunday for the family due we will have burgers and dogs with cake for desert.
Anyways, enough about the birthday...small update on the job hunt. An ad came through yesterday, July 1st, and I spent all day working on revamping my resume and cover letter to send off to this place... the job/career sounds great and it writes policy for HR for other companies. It is good pay, something I have never seen before, and is downtown TO, wouldn't take long to get to. Also, Peter is looking for something he can make into a career as well, right now he is doing a great job, but that's the thing, it is a job for him, not a career. So, he is taking some leaps of his own. I am really proud of him.
I think I will end on that high note. Much love and many blessings to all of you, have a great holiday weekend please be safe and stay out of trouble! 7/2/2009 July 1stToday was July 1st. I spent the first part of it in bed, not sick or anything, just Peter allowing me to have a little lie in.He also bought Timmies for me and for his parents, very nice (brownie points for Peter). The girls today (only day 3 of summer break) were a bit of a hardship for me. As I am not used to having them home all day long. I think my anxiety might be picking up as I know there is more of this to come.
Peter's dad brings home 'samples' from work every now and then, he has with all of the positions he has held at the various Christian book stores he has worked for, and one of the items was a box of cards with 101 sayings/bible verses to help with anxiety. Now, I haven't read them every day or anything, but last night I was reading through a few of the cards, and then going back over a few that I have already read. One stuck out to me last night...
#54
He who relies
on himself
is lost; he
who relies
on God can
accomplish
all things.
Alphonsus Liguori
#55
Do what
you can,
with what
you have,
where
you are.
Theodore Roosevelt
For some reason the two of these just jumped out at me and spoke to me, to the point that I was in tears. I think I have been living in a 'there's no way I can do that' bubble and stepping back from life and even responsibilities putting a wall up that knocks me down. #55 doesn't give a promise of anything if you live like that, just simply live like that... do what you can... in other words, stop saying you can't. As for #54, well, I tend to take lead... with my life that is, and lately I've been nose diving into some really deep canyons. I need to let a pilot who can soar take the controls... (Hinting to Isaiah 40:31, and Carrie Underwoods 'Jesus Take The Wheel')
Well, I guess it is all relavent since it is now my birthday. I am 31 now, scary thought, 31, married for 10years and 8 months, 2 children - Marajade 7yrs and Zion 5yrs old... WOW! I'm not doing anything special for my birthday, at least nothing that I know of, I am going to go to the hair dresser and get my hair cut and splurge to get a manicure and pedicure, that is my birthday treat. (I asked for that as my treat). I haven't had a manicure since I got married and I have never had a pedicure done, so it will be a really interesting experience.
I pray that everyones Canada Day celebrations were exciting and safe. For all those in the States, Happy July 4th on Saturday, be safe and have a wonderful celebration! Blessings to you all. 6/28/2009 Wonder JamI should be asleep right now, but I just can't seem to bring myself to jump into bed, not yet at least.
Yesterday was the last day of school. Mara had a great day, especially in the afternoon when all they did was play in the park and have a picnic. I got to go to the picnic too, all the parents were invited, which was neat. I took rice Krispy squares, that thankfully didn't melt in the sun. They played a game called 'Duck, Duck, Splat/Splash'. It is Duck Duck Goose, but instead of patting their heads as you go around you have a sponge that has been soaked and with each head pat it, but.. can you guess the next part?.. when you get to the 'goose' you squeeze the rest of the water from the sponge onto your targets head and soak them. You do the regular bit of running, so all in all it is 'Duck, Duck, Goose' but using water instead. The kids loved it and were cooled down with the water from the sponge.
Today was a big day, we went to a concert... Wonder Jam. It was held at Canada's Wonderland and had the line up of 'Hello Kelly' 'Thousand Foot Krutch' 'Hawk Nelson' 'Relient K' 'AA Talks' and 'Mercy Me'. Everything started at 3pm some had a small set, others slightly larger. We got to the concert at about 430ish and saw from Hawk Nelson on. The two bands that I really wanted to see were Relient K and Mercy Me, those two are favorites of mine, and it was great to see them live in concert. Although, we were way back on the grass, but we chose to be there, since we knew what up at the front would be like and were not keen on that.
God is good all the time, all the time God is good! The bands (all of them) were great. I thoroughly enjoyed myself today and now, I think I am good to get to bed. Night all, blessings to you all on this our Lord's Day!! 6/26/2009 The Zoo... and moreWell, I think Peter and Mara had a very nice time at the Zoo, it just happened to be the hottest day so far this summer season, it got to about 28 to 30 degrees on Wednesday. Peter was all ecited leaving the house with Mara in the morning, and nervous as he would be incharge of a few of the kids. But he did well, only once did he call and say 'Get me out of here now!' which was understandable considering the heat and how whiny the kids were being due to the heat. Peter's dad had given Mara some money to spend and she bought an ice cream cone and a beautiful snow globe of the Zoo.
Thursday was meant to be a picnic for the grade 1's, but by the time the picnic was to happen it was pouring with rain, along with a number of hail stone coming dawn. It was certainly a sight to see.
Today is going to be overcast, but hopefully it will stay dry and we can look forward to the picnic. I made rice krispy squares.
Also, today IS THE LAST day of school! (not too sure yet if I am excited or terrified). Maybe later on tonight we can go to the beach or something, we shall see, since Peter isn't going to be here until 5 or 6 tonight... (he's getting another tattoo today! YAY!)
Now, tomorrow... Off to Wonderland! We will be seeing Relient K and Mercy Me, the main bands we are going to see, but there are a number of others that will be there as well. Have a wonderful weekend all, be safe and many blessings! 6/24/2009 One day down...Tuesday is done... Wednesday to go. Today was a long day. Peter came home and we worked out, went to Costco, made it back in time to pick up Zion, had lunch, watched some Veggie Tales, picked up Mara, played at the park for over an hour, had dinner, played down at the beach front came home put the girls to bed and now... well, now relaxing.
Tomorrow, Peter goes to the Zoo with Mara and her class. He took two days off just to go, and he knows it will be worth it. I wanted Mara to remember Daddy being apart of her school year in some way. Now, yes, anything that took place afterschool he attended, but anything during school... well, he had to sleep due to his work schedule. So, he took some vacation time and will be able to go with her and spend the whole day with her at the Zoo.
Well, it is time for bed. Night all, and many blessings to you. |
